December Retiree Report

UAW   Sorry I missed the last newsletter but I will try to make up for it now.  At our November 3rd retiree meeting we had three more associate members accepted; they were Marilyn Steel, Terri Rosebrock and Nancy Elston.  Please welcome our new members.

Our meal was by Subway and served by Delinda Chavez and Lilly Porter

We had 200 Christmas Party tickets to hand out for the December 1st event, with the help from Carol Miller and Lisa Burgei. The deadline to receive your ticket was November 24th.  Tickets went fast at a first come first served basis.

At our Christmas Party we also had two special guests; Raye Ohl our CAP Representative and Chad Cattell our Regional Rep.  Wayne Blanchard could not make it because of other commitments.  We would like to wish Wayne well in his future endeavors.

Other guests were from the Local 211 Executive Board, CAP council officers and nurses who check our blood pressure at every retiree meeting.

On November 29th we decorated the hall for Christmas.  It took us three hours to do this.  If it wasn’t for all who helped I am sure it would have been much longer.  The great people who volunteered their services are Peggy and Bob Sponsler, Cindy and Bob Suffel, Sara and Mike Bennett, Lydia and Ralph Fleming, Nylice and Bill Thomas, Carl Miller, Denny Harr, Ted Fleming, Lisa Burgei and myself.  We were glad to do this just to see everyone at the party loving it and enjoying the day.

We had a fabulous meal served by Black Angus of Ottoville.  On the menu were sirloin tips, chicken breast with gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, dinner roll, salad and dessert.  Of course beverages were included.

After dinner it was time for the gift drawings.  We had over 150 gifts this year.  Some of the gifts had $10, $25 and $50 gift certificates with other prizes in them.  There were only a few gag gifts just for laughs.  These gifts were wrapped and donated by Sherri and Ted Fleming, Nylice and Bill Thomas, Dennis Harr, Sara Bennett and Lisa and I.  By the time the party was over it was close to 2:30.  I believe we all had a blast because everyone was laughing and smiling all day long.

Thank you again for all the volunteer help who made this event a wonderful success.  Looking forward to seeing you at our January 5th retiree meeting.  Doors open up at 9:30 A.M., we eat at 10:30 A.M. and the meeting starts at noon.

All of us wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
