KIDS CHRISTMAS PARTY 2018

  The Local 211 Kid’s Christmas Party was held on Sunday December 2, 2018 at the main UAW Hall.  I want to thank our retirees for taking the time to decorate the hall. It looked absolutely amazing and really set the atmosphere to celebrate Christmas with the 109 children who attended.

   As the kids came in, they each received two tickets for a chance to win a door prize.  All prizes purchased by the local were American-Made.  Thank you to Midwest Community Federal Credit Union for the $50 gift card as a door prize and to Maumee Valley Vending for the two bicycles they donated for door prizes.

   As always, Santa flew in from the North Pole.  This year two of his elves came along and passed out a bag of candy to every child who came to say hi and tell him what they wanted for Christmas.  I can’t thank them enough for stopping by as I know they are busy, but it was neat for me to eye witness Santa Flying in from over the Powers & Sons area.

   After visiting with Santa, the Children were provided lunch and a host of other activities including face-painting, and two new activities which were “decorate your own cookie” and making a Christmas card for a Veteran.  The Christmas cards were sent to the Veterans Home in Sandusky Ohio.  We definitely have some local up and coming artists as they did a great job on the cards.  I am sure the cards will bring smiles to our Veterans.

   Thank you to all of our volunteers for helping make the Christmas party a success!  From the face painters who did a fantastic job, to the Women’s Committee who taught the kids there can never be enough sprinkles on a cookie.  Thank you to the kitchen helpers, executive board members, the Veterans Committee and their families for helping out.

   P.S. Santa did tell me I was on the “good” list this year.
